Silverpaw darted after her. "Where are we going?" she asked once she caught up.

"I don't know." Goldenstar jumped on Silverpaw. "Lets warm up before your assesment." Goldenstar picked Silverpaw up by the scruff with her teeth and threw her.

Silverpaw hit a tree but got up quickly and pelted at goldenstar. She was small for her age and she skidded under her mentors belly and grabbed her hind paw as she went past.

Goldenstar went sliding with Silverpaw and kicked her gently off. "UUUUGGGHHH... You (pant, pant) wanna here about you littermates? Sure, atleast we THINK they all are dead, but... " Goldenstar pounced on Silverpaw and backed away. "Mabey we should rest, you may not be tired... but I am sure getting older. So, ready for your assesment? First, we will train a different way then most apprentence do. Here," Goldenstar tied some thick twine around Silverpaws head, covering her eyes. "Can you see anything? If not, bring me 7 pieces of prey back before sunhigh," Goldenstar had called Silverpaw out before the sun had even started to make its apperence. "You must rely on your sense of smell and hearing, like your decessed brother, Blindpaw." Goldenstar sat down on a log and rested while Silverpaw readyed herself for the assessment.

Silverpaw sat her self on the ground and asked, "what do you want me to do? if i ace this can i become a warrior?"

Goldenstar shook her head. "Did you just listen to what I said? You must bring me back 7 pieces of prey before sunhigh. Just because you pass the test, if you pass the test, dosen't mean you become a warrior. You just started training."

Silverpaw was agitated. she'd been an apprentice for a long time. "Why cant you exept that im growing up!?!" shouted silverpaw before pelting off into the trees to catch the prey. She found a squirrel scuffling around almost emediantly. From there she caught a mouse and a magpie, and buried her catch to go deeper into the forest.

She saw a rabbit and caught it quickly. hunting had always been easy for her because she was small and not very small. So she had turned her size into speed. She saw a bird and pounced but it flew away too quickly. Then she saw a vole walking around lazily, and she bit it in the back of the neck and killed it. Then she saw a black bird and pounced, catching it in her claws and killing it. She buried her catch and moved on. She saw a wood pigion and stalked it, she kept upwind, and kept silent. So when she pounced it was unsuspecting. She gathered up all her prey and went back to goldenstar. There. she said, "seven pieces and its almost sun high."

"I've been thinking, you have worked hard, really really hard. If you can bring me back 3 mice and 3 voles, with your ears stuffed with cotton, and your eyes covered with twine, you can have your warrior ceremony tomorrow. Remember, eyes covered in twine, ears stuffed with cotton." Goldenstar gently stuffed Silverpaw's ears with cotton and covered with twine, her eyes. "Make your mentor, and mother proud. Make me, proud, go getum hun!"

Silverpaw waved her tial from side to side and pelted off into the woods. What was it? 3 mice and 3 voles? She carefully sniffed the air. She scented vole, so she carefully judged her position and the way the wind was blowing, and pounced to where the smell was coming from. She felt her paws catch on a tiny body. TWO tiny bodys in fact. She killed them both and buried them.

She moved farther on and caught 2 scents. One mouse and one vole. She sniffed and the mouse was nearer, but she couldnt see so she stumbled into some undergrowth and the scents disapeared. "fox dung!" she muttered. She moved on and caught scent of a mouse. She pounced and she killed.

She caught scent of a vole and a mouse again, but they were spread apart. she pricked her ears but remembered that was useless. She Stalked to the mouse and pounced. She got it and killed it quickly. Then she went farther on and caught the vole. Just one more mouse she thought.

She slipped through the undergrowth and noticed how her smell had improved because she couldnt see or hear. She scented a mouse and some brambles. She ducked low and carefully went underneath them. She swiped out in front of her and felt her claws catch the mouse and kill it.

She picked up the mouse and followed her scent trail back to goldenstar, picking up her catch alone the way. when she scented her leader, she set down her prey in front of her.

Silverpaw sat down and took the cotton out of her ears but she didnt take the twine off her eyes. I like it like this! she mewed. I think i hunt better with no sight! It brings up my other scenses!
